ahhhhh

August 22, 2006 Happy Birthday Daniella!! (jessica) I'm sitting here by our Arvey, about 100 feet atop a cliff, overlooking the Atlantic. The view of the ocean, with the cliffs alongside and the 3...4...children running alongside is priceless. I awoke at 6:00 and couldn't go back to sleep for the noise of the waves crashing to shore. It was calling and so I completed a whole hour of yoga out by the edge of the ocean....sorry Amy that you were not here. I spotted a seal and that broke the yoga moment and I had to get the kids. All 3 were outside in no time and then down dipping their toes into the water. They scrambled back up here at 7:30 for a quick bite and are back at it now. The rocks they are collecting are going to weight us down severely driving home. Alena is out charming the other campers - using the term loosely, as we're next to what must be a 60 foot contraption for 2. Makes our 24' hoome look tiny. Daren is so thrilled to see his HS teacher, Dan, and we're all looking forward to hearing his stories of how he discovered Gaspe while living in Mississippi.
The past two days we were in the most spectacular National Park. The thick evergreen forests thrill me. The floor of the forests is bouncy, it's so thick of sphagnum moss. The waterfalls were much more impressive to me than those at Niagara Falls, due to the serenity of the scene and respectfulness of those appreciating them. The density of the flora is incredible. I kept looking at one square foot to see what I'd find and at times found 6 types of wildflowers. In another foot I found branches of 3 types of evergreens. Fabulous smells too. I could have stayed there another week. The top of the mountain was calling, but with 30 pounds on my back, I only made it a small way up. We hiked for over 4 hours and the kids were worn out.
