8/22/06 (wilson) |-|i! I mean hi! Sorry I couldn't help but type like that. Anyway, after we passed into Canada we went through Montreal (which was a disaster, according to my dad) and stayed at a junky RV park (remember the purgatory RV picture?) and first thing in the morning moved out and drove some more. Then we set up camp at another park and went to Quebec, Quebec (lol). We had to take a ferry to get across the St. Lawrence river to get there. Once there we visited the Hotel Frontenac (it is HUGE!!!) and listened to a one-man-band dude sing. Then we went to a park and played and got some AWESOME ice cream (gelate)! I got strawberry and lemon mixed together (yum). After that we ate at a restaurant and my dad made me and Rachel try smoked mackerel! It didn't taste that good. After eating for 2 hours (1 hour wait) we went to a wood carving shop across the street and bought some little toy animals. They were 1-2 inches long and about $5.50 each! Expensive.
Quebec city is a neat town. It has some pedestrian-only streets and the buildings are all bunched together (it can get kind of claustrophobic at times). After we had visited Quebec City fully we took the ferry back to the RV and stayed the night.
After we woke up the next morning we went to an RV park and stayed the night. Then we drove a few hours to Mount Albert RV park. We played in the woods for a while, chose a campspot, roasted marshmallows, rode bikes, and went to bed. The next morning we went on a 4 hour hike to Diablo Falls. The hike was nice and one minute it was dense coniferous forest and the next it was scrubby desert! When we got to Diablo Falls we found out that it actually wasn't a waterfall, but some rapids with some huge rocks spanning the entire length of it. I actually enjoyed the rapids more than a waterfall, because me and Rachel jumped all over the rocks for an hour before my dad spent 30 minutes trying to find a good spot to take a picture of us all. We kind of regretted staying at Mount Albert for one night because we had an awesome spot and it was a cool place. But we left anyway and drove 5 hours to Tete Dindien, our main destination! It is run by my dad's old science teacher, who took him and a few other boys for a trip up here 25 years ago. We talked with Mr. Rose (that's my dad's science teacher's name) for a while and woke up this morning feeling good, because we wouldn't have to move the RV for a week! Me and Rachel went down to the beach and played for a few hours. We found some tide pools and found lots of amphipods in them. Amphipods are little shrimp-like crustaceans that swim really fast, and they can even get around on land (sort of) by wriggling their wormy bodies. Me and Rachel found lots of cool rocks that were super-smooth and had cool patterns on them. We even found an old crab who died in my hands (ick). We came up and played tetherball a bit and now here I am typing this blog. THE END! Oh ya and here's another thing I would to type:
Bad/Weird things about Canada: Good things about Canada:
Almost everything is in French The scenery is rad, yo
You have to tell people you speak English The people are nice
The people usually start talking to you in French It has Toys "R" Us (lol)
The roads are usually not very good Some people speak English

Ok t |-| E e |\| |) for real!
